Dhaka, June 1 (UNB) – Malaysia has assured of all possible cooperation in promoting trade and investment cooperation with Bangladesh.

The assurance came when Dato Zulkifly AB Rahman, High Commissioner of Malaysia in Bangladesh, called on Abdul Awal Mintoo, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at the federation office here today.

Minto said trade between Malaysia and Bangladesh was quite diversified, and its volume was higher than that with other Asian countries.

The FBCCI president felt that there was greater scope for importing more items from Malaysia, as it would be a cheaper source of imports. Likewise Malaysia could also import more items from Bangladesh.

Mintoo mentioned the high potential of developing tourism in Bangladesh as a package program because Bangladesh was centrally located having air links with major cities in the region, including Kathmandu, Yangoon and Bangkok.

He informed the High Commissioner that the program for FBCCI business delegation to visit Kuala Lumpur has to be cancelled because of the national budget session on June 8.

He assured the High Commissioner that a trip to ASEAN countries, including Malaysia will be organized during August this year.

The Malaysian High Commissioner said that Bangladesh has enormous potentiality for development because it has ample resources like fertile agricultural land, natural gas and hard working people.

Dewan Sultan Ahmed, Director FBCCI was also present on the occasion.
