Dhaka-- (UNB) – A large number of visitors visited the Bangladesh Pavilion in Calcutta fair and showed their keen interest in buying Bangladeshi goods.


A total of 20 enterprises, including Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC), with their products like jute, jamdani sari, electronics, cosmetics and toiletries, food, ceramics and tea, are participating in the international trade fair.


State Minister for Jute Ak Faezul Huq, who is now on a five- day visit to India, yesterday (Sunday) visited the Industrial Trade Fair 2000.


The 11-day international trade show began on December 22. It was ceremonially opened by Jyoti Basu in presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Abdul Jalil and Nepalese Science and Technology Minister Surendra Prasad Chaudhary.


Faezul Huq went round different stalls of Bangladesh pavilion and enquired about the sale and publicity progress of Bangladeshi goods, said a BJMC press release.


The fair will continue till January 1.
