Dhaka--(UNB) - Outgoing Japanese Ambassador Kazuyoshi Urabe yesterday called on Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence and said some of the Japanese investors are interested to invest in Bangladesh.


The Prime Minister said Japanese investors would be welcomed in Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of agro-based industries and information technology.


Hasina said they can also set up industries in the export processing zones (EPZs) of Bangladesh, where the government is offering a lot of lucrative incentives.


The Japanese envoy recalled his pleasant stay in Dhaka, saying that his mission was very fruitful in Bangladesh.


Urabe said he tried his best to strengthen the existing bond of relationship with Bangladesh and expressed the hope that it would be consolidated in the coming days.


He also praised the personal efforts of the Prime Minister for improving the socio-economic condition of the common people.


The Prime Minister listed her efforts for changing the economic condition of the poor and bringing socio-economic changes through various welfare projects, including asrayan, greehayan, old-age allowance and micro credit scheme for the rural people.


She thanked the envoy and said Bangladesh have a very cordial relation with Japan.


The Prime Minister mentioned the Japanese assistance in various sectors of the country’s economy.
