Gazipur-- (UNB) – The first batch of military truck lorries dubbed `Arunima Balian’ assembled by army engineers and technicians at the Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory were inaugurated yesterday (Tuesaday).

Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of BMTF Board of Directors Lieutenant General Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman yesterday formally inaugurated three lorries already completed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally handed over the management of the BMTF to the Bangladesh Army on July 27 this year at a function held at the BMTF compound.

Immediately after taking over, the Army Engineers personnel went into production and secured the contract of producing spare parts and accessories for the Rural Electrification Board in open tender.

Speaking on the occasion, the Army Chief expressed his optimism that the Army Engineering personnel would be able to produce more equipment and accessories required by other enterprises of the country.

He lauded the role of the army personnel and urged them to contribute their technical knowledge and expertise for the benefit of the country.

Arunima Balian will take part in the Victory rally on Saturday marking the victory of the country’s liberation war, said ISPR press release.
