Stuttgart-- (Bangla2000) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday visited Daimler-Chrysler car manufacturing company, which is now producing a new type of two-seater smart car for city dwellers. This small car, innovated by the Daimler-Chrysler, the manufacturer of famous Mercedes Benz, is very suitable for congested cities as it occupies less space for parking. “This car is also environment-friendly as it consumes less fuel,” Dr Peter Rudiger Puf, head of Economic Research Section of the company, told the Prime Minister while briefing her about his company and the new car. He said his company’s total turnover is 140 billion US dollars, one of the largest in the world, while its total marketization is 40 billion US dollars. “We are spending one million US dollars on our research works every year,” Dr Puf said showing interest in doing car business with Bangladesh. The Prime Minister also showed keen interest in the new car concept of the Smart car and went round different sections of the big carmaker. She also rode on a small two-seater smart car and took a demonstration drive. From Stuttgart the Prime Minister arrived at Berlin last (Tuesday) morning and had a meeting with Berlin Mayor at Red City Hall. She will meet German Federal President Johannes Rau later in the afternoon. |
