Dhaka-- (UNB) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Livestock Ministry yesterday directed the authorities concerned to suspend five baor managers in Jessore district and take steps for giving exemplary punishment to them for their alleged irregularities in revenue collection.

The directives came at a meeting of the parliamentary watchdog after reviewing the report of a sub-committee formed to investigate into the matter.

Held at the Parliament Bhaban with committee chairman ASM Firoj in the chair, the meeting also suggested the Fisheries Development Corporation to construct its own building under its own initiatives instead of giving to any developer.

The meeting also strongly protested the adverse comment by Pakistani Deputy High Commissioner Irfan Raza about the independence war was. It demanded Raza’s unconditional apology to the countrymen.

Committee members Syed Rafiqul Haq, Quamrunnahar Putul, Alhaj Dr Mohammad Ali, Fazlul Haq and Shamsuzzoha Khan (Zoha) were present in the meeting.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Abdul Quddus attended the meeting on special invitation.

Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Syed Magrub Morshed and concerned high officials were also present.
