Dhaka-- (UNB)- An FBCCI member yesterday alarmed the business community of a plot to co-opt a disputed person as director in the post vacated by Selima Ahmed. The FBCCI member, who did not identify himself for safety concerns, said image of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the business community as a whole would be severely damaged if the “December 3 Conspiracy” succeeds. Airing the apprehensions the apex trade body member said the process of filling up the vacant post should be transparent and the candidate who polled 16th highest vote in recent election should be chosen. The unnamed businessperson accused newly elected vice president Mohammad Ali of conspiring to get one of his men as FBCCI director. “He (Ali) himself should be asked to resign to reestablish the decent image of FBCCI and relieve the business community of corruption and harm he is going to cause them,” said the complainant in an anonymous statement. |
