Dhaka-- (UNB) – Parliamentary Standing Committee on Government Assurances directed the concerned authorities to take effective measures for setting up a fertilizer factory in the country’s northern region.

The committee at a meeting at Sangsad Bhaban yesterday also reviewed the causes and problems for non-implementation of the assurances given in various parliament sessions.

Earlier, the meeting held elaborate discussion on the progress of the assurances regarding Industries and Food Ministries given during 1st-22nd sessions of the 5th parliament and 1st-17th sessions of the 7th parliament.

It advised the concerned ministries to take necessary steps to immediately fulfill the assurances.

Chaired by committee chairman Rezaul Karim Hira, the meeting was attended by committee members Dewan Farid Gazi, Alhaj Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Mirza Azam and Mosarraf Hossain Mongu.

Food Secretary Ayub Kadri, Industries Secretary Al-Amin Chowdhury and other concerned high officials were present.
