Dhaka--(UNB) - Japan Friendship Education Fund (JFEF) will provide a grant of US dollars 30,500 to Bangladesh Friendship Education Society (BFES) for its education programme.


An agreement to this effect was signed yesterday between the JFEF and BFES.


The fund will be utilized for giving scholarships to meritorious students from poor family at the primary and secondary schools of Bangladesh and building an auditorium in Jeroine High School under Brahmanpara upazila of Comilla district.


The agreement was signed by Tetsurou Minakawa, patron of the JFEF and Habibur Rahman, acting Headmaster of Jeroine High School.


Makoto Taneda, chief patron of JFEF and Prof Mahmudul Haque, president of BFES were present on the occasion.


The Japanese team also visited Comilla Municipality to discuss the possibility of twining city between Comilla town and Makabe town of Japan. Poura Chairman Kamaluddin Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
