Dhaka, Nov 10 (UNB) - A visiting Japanese official said investors of his country are concerned over the proposal for introducing Trade Union in the EPZs of Bangladesh. Masao Kawai, vice president of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), said this while talking to Industries Minister Tofail Ahmed at the latter's official residence today. During the meeting, the minister urged the Japanese government to increase import from Bangladesh as the country produces quality frozen food, readymade garments, jute goods and other agricultural produces. He said Japanese entrepreneurs could invest in Bangladesh in greater volume for their own benefit taking the advantage of Bangladesh's very attractive investment policy. As Japan and other developed nations are committed to give better market access to LDC's products, Tofail requested the JETRO vice president to pursue the case with the Japanese government. "Quality is the main concern of Japanese consumers", the JETRO executive said and requested the minister to take steps for improvement of quality in shrimp processing which has a good market in Japan. Local representative of JETRO Daisuke Arai was present in the meeting. |
