Economy is running well: Kibria |

Dhaka (UNB) – Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria today said country’s economy is running well with exports growing 23 percent, inflation remaining low and revenue collection ahead of target. Citing other macroeconomic indicators he said industrial and agricultural production good is going good. Kibria gave the overview of the state of economy when visiting Chairman of Standard Chartered Group Sir Patrick Gillam called on him at his office to discuss matters of mutual interests. “Most of the economic indicators are satisfactory,” he told the Stanchart Group Chairman. The Finance Minister said the government is trying to encourage fair competition in banking as people want efficient, quick and honest services from the sector. Sir Patrick Gillam said his bank would work for better contribution in the economy of Bangladesh. John Filmeridis, Regional General Manager, Middle East and South Asia Region, Standard Chartered Bank and Muhammad Ali Rumi, senior representative Bangladesh, StanChart Group and Chief Executive officer, Standard Chartered Grindlays were present on the occasion. |
