Dhaka (UNB) – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has set a target of making Tk 2-crore profit from the forthcoming Dutch-Bangla Inaugural Test match between Bangladesh and India.

The estimated income is approximately Tk 4.12 crore while the expenditure is Tk 2.12 crore.

The earning will come from TV rights, sponsorships, NSC donation and ticket selling while the expenditure will be for ground preparation, hospitality, team appearance money, five-day programme and TA/DA for BCB councilors.

This was disclosed by BCB general secretary Syed Ashraful Haq at a crowded press conference at its office today (Saturday).

BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury, two joint secretaries —- Mahmudul Haq Manu and Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul -- were also present.

Replying to a question on appearance money for the Indian team, the BCB general secretary said the amount is yet to be confirmed. “We don’t know how much they will want,” he added.

BCB has chalked out a five-day programme beginning from tomorrow (Sunday) to make the maiden test match of Bangladesh a memorable event.

A total of Tk 70-lakh have been earmarked for various programmes including an official dinner at Shenakunja on Thursday which is expected to be joined by about 1500 guests.

The board will arrange a reception to cricket related persons at Osmani Memorial Hall on Wednesday. Former sports ministers, DSA secretaries, umpires, scorers, coaches and sponsors will be invited in the reception.

The reception will be followed by a cultural programme presented by noted artistes of the country.

On the same day, a firework will be steered at 8pm at Gangasagar Dighi in Basaboo near Rajarbag Kalibari Mandir.

During the lunch session of the match, women cricket, club cricket and cricket for the blinds will be held at the stadium. An Indian blind team is expected to take part in the game.

Popular singer Shuvra Dev’s theme song “Hit six, hit four”, composed by himself and Shahidul Azam, will be played during the match.

Meanwhile, BCB today officially opened its new logo depicting national pride Royal Bengal Tiger and the National Mausoleum, designed by Rezaul Haider.

About the new logo, the BCB President said: This is the best time to change the logo because we are now in a new stage. We will register the logo to use in different business proposes.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the historic five-day match on November 10 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The Indian team is expected to arrive here on Tuesday night.
