Foreign company may build container terminal at Patenga |

Dhaka-- (UNB)- Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry at a meeting yesterday discussed the proposed agreement with a foreign company for construction of a container terminal at Patenga. It emphasized that the draft of the agreement should be made giving priority to national interest. The meeting suggested that Chittagong Port Authority maintain transparency in the purchase of gantry-crane, if necessary, by inviting tenders again. The meeting also asked the CPA to open L/C in for purchasing mobile crane. It also asked the authorities concerned to evict illegal occupants of land on the bank of the Karnafuli river. Chaired by committee chairman Col (retd) Shawkat Ali the meeting was attended by its members ABM Abul Kashem, Mir Shawkat Ali (Daru), Mahmuda Shawgat, Giyas Uddin Quader Chowdhury and Jafrul Islam Chowdhury. Secretary of the ministry Sohel Ahmed was present. |
