Dhaka-- (UNB) - Parliamentary Standing Committee on Jute Ministry has asked the authorities concerned to take effective measures so that jute growers can receive their jute prices at the shortest possible time from jute purchasing centres. The directive came from a meeting of the committee at Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Shamsul Haque in the chair yesterday. The meeting expressed resentment at the opening of additional 73 jute purchasing centres by BJMC and reviewed various aspects of these centres. It advised the authorities concerned to submit a report in the next meeting of the committee whether these additional centres could be brought down through proper monitoring. Matters relating to availability of jute, the amount of arrears of jute purchasing centers and their fund allocation also came up in the meeting for discussion. Committee members State Minister for Jute AK Faezul Haq, Dr SM Mokhlesur Rahman, Sharif Khasruzzaman, Jalaluddin Talukder, Mujibar Rahman, Dr Salek Chowdhury and Adv Goutam Chakrawarty, among others, attended the meeting.
