Tangail, Feb 16 (UNB) - The election to Union Shishu Parishad (USP), introduced by a number of NGOs, was held in nine unions of five upazilas of the district today.

A total of 33,993 children voters in the 6-14 age range from 1,400 Shishu Parishads were scheduled to cast their votes to elect nine USP chairmen and 81 members for nine selected unions.

Some eight returning, 48 presiding, 96 assistant presiding and 594 polling officers helped the Election Commission to conduct the election.

Election was held in festive mood, which was participated by huge number of children voters, said a press release.

Save the Children Australia and eight other NGOs helped the District Parishad to hold the election in all possible nice ways following the tradition of the national election context.
