Sirajganj, July 13 (UNB)- A head-on-collision between a night coach and a truck left nine people dead and 35 others injured at Dekrirchar on Dhaka-Rangpur highway here early today (Thursday).

 

Four of the deceased were identified as Alauddin, 42, Nishat Jahan Eva, 28, Rowshan Ara, 48, and Golam Sarwar Jewel 35. Drive of the bus, whose name could not be known immediately, was among the dead.

 

Police and hospital sources said the fatal mishap took place when a Bogra-bound pineapple-laden truck collided with a Dhaka-bound night coach from Rangpur in the area, 4kms off the Bangabandhu Bridge.

 

Six of the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and four to Rangpur while four others sent to Dhaka.

 

The bodies of the victims were taken to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

 

Police seized the truck but the driver fled the scene. A case was filed.
