Sirajganj, May 20 (UNB) – A Tk 8.21-crore project to repair a groin to protect parts of the district town from the erosion of Jamuna is nearing completion.

The project funded by the government and World Bank was undertaken last year to save the northern parts of poura area and Khoksabari union of sadar upazila.

Water Development Board sources said 65 per cent of project work has been done already and the rest will be completed before next rainy season.

Under the supervision of the Board four contractors are repairing the groin by placing stones and CC blocks at the vulnerable point of the dam.
