Sirajganj, Apr 22 (UNB) – One passenger was killed and 37 others were injured falling down from the roof top of a Borga-bound bus at the west end of Bangabandhu Bridge today (Saturday).

 

Witnesses and police said the accident took place at about 12-30 pm as the driver of the bus of  SM Transport Lines lost control over steering and hit a roadside poll, a few metres from the west end of the bridge. Some 120 passengers on the rooftop fell on the ground under the impact of the accident.

 

A 37-year-old unidentified passenger was killed on the spot and 37 received injuries, 10 critically.

 

The injured were admitted to the Sadar Hospital. Of them, condition of Mohsin, 20, Aminur, 35, and Karim, 34, were stated to be critical.

 

Driver and his helper managed to escape the scene.

 

Police seized the vehicle. A case was filed with Bangabandhu Bridge West thana.
