Rajshahi, Feb 5 (UNB) – A scheme has been taken up to construct eight roads in Putia upazila at a cost of Tk 64 lakh.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Prof Abdul Quddus on Sunday inaugurated works of these roads which is being constructed under supervision of Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED).

These roads are: Jhalmolia-Mollapara road, Noapara Bazar-Bhalukgachi road, Shibpur-Chhatragacha road, Pollapukur-Nandanpara road, Noapara-Singahat road, Biraldaha-Noapara Bazar road, Beelpukuria-Zamirahat road and a road on the western side of Baneswar College.

Apart from this, another eight projects have been taken up involving Tk 1.8 crore to construct some more roads in the same upazila. Works on these roads will begin soon, officials said.

Addressing the inaugural functions, the state minister said a tremendous development has been achieved in the socio-economic and communication sectors under the present government, which was not possible in the last 21 years. 

Former lawmaker and general secretary of Rajshahi District unit Awami League Tajul Islam Mohammad Farooq, Shafiqul Islam Nawfel, Abdus Sobhan, Monwar Hossain and Bodiuzzaman also addressed the function.

Earlier, the state minister inaugurated the newly constructed Haji Sultan Primary School at Denbagh. LGED has constructed the building at a cost of Tk 6 lakh, said an official handout.
