Panchagarh, May 27 (UNB) - Cattle lifting is on rise in different parts of Atowari upazila creating panic among the farmers.

 

The farmers are spending almost sleepless night as at least 30 cows were stolen from various cowsheds during night in the first 20 days of May.

 

Of the total, two cows were stolen each from the cowsheds of Jyotish Chandra, Habibur and Mafiz of Chuchuli village in Balarampur union. Siddiqur, Khairul, Hakimuddin and Ramesh Chandra of Chameshwari lost one, six, two and four cows respectively.

 

While visiting some areas, this correspondent also finds one cow owned by Golam Rasul, two owned by each Akter Hossain, Farid and Mujibur and three owned by Alam of Radhanagar unions were stolen.
