Nilphamari, Feb 5 (UNB) – Officials of the Hilly Customs Station have cancelled licenses of 14 C&F agents and 8 importers on various grounds, including tax evasion.

Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Excise & Vat Commissionerate Meer Farid Akhter cancelled these licenses recently on a number of allegations.

The allegations included dollar smuggling by the agents, submitting of false statement on import items, said officials.

The 14 Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) agents are: Don Trading Corporation, Solaimania Enterprise, Eva Agency, Jamuna Trading Corporation, Himalaya Trading, Masud Corporation, Green Valley International, KS Usha Impex, Lorod and Co., Expo Traders, C International Agency, Shardul Enterprise, SM Traders and Rupali Agency.

The customs authority of country’s second largest land port in northern region also raised allegations against eight import agencies and imposed ban on their import activities.

Protesting authorities decision C &F Association general secretary Kamal Hossain Raj told UNB that the allegations were not base on facts. He urged the authority to lift the ban without further delay.
