Narsingdi, Apr 11 (UNB) – A police constable was killed and 30 villagers were injured in a police-mob clash at Begumabad village in Raipura thana today.

 

The clash ensued when a police team led by Officer-in-Charge of Raipura thanan went to the village at 7-30 am to arrest a wanted criminal.

 

Police said the villagers attacked them in a bid to resist the arrest and at one stage opened fire, killing constable Nazrul Islam (40) of village Bikrampur in Tungibari thana of Gopalganj district. 

 

Some 30 villagers were injured in a police baton charge. They were admitted to Bhairab Hospital. 

 

Police also arrested five people in connection with the killing.
