Munsiganj, May 19 (UNB) – A bridge on the Dhaka-Tongibari highway in the Sadar Upzila collapsed this (Friday) morning along with a truck injuring five people.

Traffic on Dhaka-Tongibari, Dhaka-Betka, Dhaka-Hasail and Dhaka-Baligaon-Lowhajong routes was disrupted following the accident.

Witnesses said the antiquated Dalalapara bridge, constructed during the British regime, gave in while the Tongibari–bound timber-laden truck crossing it at about 7am.

However, there was no water in the canal below.

All the five people aboard the truck were injured. Of them, Minal and Shahnewaz were admitted to Munsiganj Sadar Hospital and others to local hospital.
