Madaripur, July 16 (UNB) – Some 1,601 hectares of land in four upazilas of the district have been brought under vegetable cultivation in the current season.

 

According to local Agriculture Extension Department, of the total, 318 hectares in Sadar, 430 hectares in Kalkini, 378 hectares in Rajoir and 475 hectares in Shibchar upazilas have been earmarked for the cultivation.

 

The vegetables including pumpkins, ladyfinger, beans and leafy vegetables will be cultivated, the sources added.

 

Meanwhile, BADC has supplied seeds and other necessary inputs among the farmers at fair prices to make the programme a success.
