Government allocation for construction of UP complex

Lalmonirhat, May 5 (UNB) - The government has allocated Tk 25.0 lakh for construction of Chalbala UP complex in Kaliganj upzila in the current fiscal.

Local Government Engineering Department has sanctioned the money and the credit for it goes to incumbent chairman Sree Atul Chandra Sarker for his continued efforts in this connection.

Clash between villagers and local administration

Lalmonirhat, Apr 24 (UNB) – A tense situation was prevailing at Daubari Union in Hatibandha Upazila following a clash between villagers and officials of local administration that left some 45 people injured on Sunday.

The clash took place as a section of poor villagers opposed the allocation of 200 dwelling houses among the people who have lost their homesteads in Tista riverbank erosion. The houses were constructed at Votmarir Char under an ideal village project.

Nor’wester lashed four unions

Lalmonirhat, Apr 18 (UNB)- A nor’wester lashed four unions of Kaliganj thana Monday evening causing extensive damage to dwellings and standing crops

The storm that lasted half an hour damaged three high schools and 70 houses of seven barracks of Kashiram and Bhotmari Asrayan projects. The schools are South Ghanashyam High School of Tushbhandar, Babur Ali High School and Rudreshwar High School of Kakina.
