Joypurhat, Jan 14 (UNB)- A man was killed and five others were injured when a shallow engine driven tempo overturned at Raghabpur in Kalai upazila on Panchsira-Matrai road on Monday.

The dead was identified as Abdus Samad, 45, of Gaibandha district. The injured were admitted to the upazila health complex.

The mishap took place when the driver of the Kalai upazila bound vehicle from Matrai Boiragirhat lost its control at the point. 

Police seized the tempo but its driver managed to escape. A case was filed.

A report from Barisal says that a teenager identified as Mehedi Hassan of Gonpara village in the downtown Kashiani was killed when his wrapper was wrapped with a power pump on Jan 7. 

The incident occurred when the youth was witnessing the removing of pond water by the power pump. He was rushed to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died.

Another report from Bogra adds: Police recovered the decomposed body of an unidentified minor girl (7) packed in a sack from the Gazaria beel in Gabtali upazila on January 6. 

Police suspect that the miscreants murdered her after rape. A case was filed.
