Jhalakathi, May 17 (UNB)- A union parisad member has tendered his resignation protesting the delay in taking action against his chairman for corruption and embezzlement of fund at Magor union in Nalchiti upazila of the district.

The aggrieved member Sirajul Islam submitted his resignation to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on May 7 and to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday (May 15).

In his resignation letter he mentioned that eight members of the union parishad expressing no confidence submitted written allegations against the chairman to the district administration and the Local Government ministry in last January. But so far no action was taken in this regard.

He demanded of the authority concerned to take immediate steps to probe into the allegations against the chairman and take necessary action for the interest of the local people.
