Gopalganj, June 14 (UNB) – An extensive Aus and transplanted Aman cultivation scheme in 33,000 hectares of land has been undertaken in five upazilas of the district in the current season.

Local Agricultural Extension Department (AED) sources said of the total, 20,000 hectares will be brought under Aus and the rest 13,000 hectares under Aman cultivation in Muksudpur, Kashiani, Kutalipara, Sadar and Tungipara upazilas.

Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) will supply seeds and pesticides and other necessary inputs for the successful implementation of the scheme.

AED sources said that the bumper production of paddy and other crops might be achieved in the district as Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has taken up massive irrigation project since 1998.
