Informed sources, however, said many more crimes occurred in the district which were not recorded with the police for fear of reprisal.

Of the total crimes recorded by the police, 37 occurred in Sadar, 11 in Dagonbhuiyan, 16 in Chhagalnaiya, 12 in Sonagazi, 11 in Parshuram and eight in Fulgazi thana.
