Comilla, Apr 15 (UNB) – Situation at Comilla Railway Station became tense after an employee of Comilla Railway Station was assaulted by an army personnel on Wednesday.

Railway sources said Capt Arif of Comilla Cantonment beat parcel-assistant Rafiqul Islam Majumder (50) after an altercation over the payment of due godown charge of his motorbike.

Sources said the army personnel refused to pay Tk 112 that the employee charged for keeping the motorbike in the godown for three days more.

Capt Arif booked the motorbike from Kamalapur Railway Station on April 8 which reached Comilla Railway Station on the following day. But he came to the station for the bike after three days.

When the incident spread in the area, a group of army officials including Second East Bengal Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Humayun Kabir visited the spot and assured the railway employees and officials of taking proper action.

Rafiq was first admitted to General Hospital from where he was shifted to Comilla Combined Military Hospital (CCMH) by the army officials.

A GD was filed with Laksam Railway police in this connection.
