Bagerhat, July 19 (UNB)- The inter-district Transport Owners Association will observe a half-day strike on all the routes in the district tomorrow (Thursday) demanding ban of shallow engine propelled tempo.

They claimed that over 500 such environment unfriendly tempos are plying on eight routes of the district before the very nose of the local administration violating the strict ban.

At a press conference on Sunday general secretary of the association Mati Mia said the six-hour strike would begin at 6am to press home their demand. He also said if the demand was not met they would go for a daylong strike on July 24.

After the press conference the association submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
