Bagerhat, Jan 25 (UNB) – About one lakh people living in North Sundarban might remain out of the fourth population census that began Monday night due to inadequate enumerators.

Fishermen, Bawalis (Wood Cutters) and Moualis (Honey Collectors) are living on 2.31 lakh hectares of river and canal areas, including the forest of North Sundarban of the district.

Sources said 30 enumerators and five supervisors of Sharankhola range and 28 enumerators of Chandpai range are working there to include them in the population census, but the number of enumerators are insufficient.

Official sources, however, said steps have been undertaken to account the people of the area in the forth population census.
